In a move that should be surprising to no one, WWE desperately wants Ronday Rousey to make another appearance at WrestleMania, this time to actually step in the ring and work a match. Their opponent of choice? None other than Raw women's champion Charlotte Flair.

Ronda Rousey is currently training for her UFC return where she will challenge for the women's bantamweight championship, the title she once held a deathgrip on as she ran through every challenger she faced in vulgar displays of armbarring dominance. This time last year Holly Holm's efficient counter-striking and a perfectly placed headkick brought that reign of terror to a close, and nearly ended Ronda's career in the process.

After the loss, the formerly outspoken fighter went into hiding, eschewing all media appearances outside of telling Ellen DeGeneres the defeat had her contemplating suicide, retreating to Hollywood where she was trying to establish a movie career and leaving many observers convinced she was done with MMA for good.

With Conor McGregor blowing past her in drawing power and Hollywood's interest in her quickly drying up - both her starring vehicles, Mile 22 and the remake of Road House have either been postponed or canceled - Rousey announced that she would be returning to the octagon on December 30th to challenge current titlist Amanda Nunes and attempt to reclaim her spot atop women's MMA.

WWE, and in particular Stephanie McMahon have been very vocal in their desire to bring Ronda into the fold, and the fact that she's a passionate wrestling fan makes this far more likely than the similar pipe dreams of bringing in McGregor for an appearance. Now word is going around that if WWE is somehow able to work a deal to bring her into the company for WrestleMania 33, it will be to face Charlotte Flair.

While this would obviously be a huge coup for WWE, one can't help but wonder how adamantly the organization will pursue Rousey should she step in the cage and get starched by Nunes. All of Ronda's appeal lies in her dominance, and if she's unable to reestablish that aura will it be worth the money, effort and leverage WWE will have to expend to make it happen?
