Very few gimmicks withstand the test of time. The Undertaker's has. Jake "The Snake" Roberts' has as well, although his health and addiction problems prevented him from achieving anywhere near the success of the Dead Man.

However, the image of him draping a python over a downed opponent will never grow old for wrestling fans, which is why Roberts would have had a stellar run today - possibly even a better run, given that the WWE now has a health and wellness program that could have helped him avoid the perils of substance abuse.

Not sold and think it's all about the snake? Well, even if that were the case, consider this: Jake the Snake is still one of the most recognizable, most memorable wrestlers from the 80s, despite the fact that he was never the WWF Champion.

There's no question that he would find success today.
