10 Best WCW PPVs Ever

9. WCW SuperBrawl III, 1993

A quality card held in the middle of Flair country, in Asheville, North Caroline on 21st February 1993, the event saw the return of Ric Flair to WCW and the crowd duly go unhinged. Guesting on colour commentary during the match between NWA heavyweight champion The Great Muta and old Horsemen compadre Barry Windham, Flair attempted to place the belt he€™d never actually lost around his old friend€™s waist, only for Windham to react churlishly and leave the ring in sullen silence, hinting at the feud the two were about to begin. The rest of the card was rock solid, with the Hollywood Blondes carrying Erik Watts and Marcus Bagwell to an entertaining match; 2 Cold Scorpio taking on Chris Benoit in one of the best matches in WCW history until that point; a barnstorming Falls Count Anywhere match between Cactus Jack and Paul Orndorrf; a brilliant tag match between the Rock N€™ Roll Express and The Heavenly Bodies, and a sadly forgettable crapfest with Dustin Rhodes beating Maxx Payne by disqualification for the US championship. But the main event for the WCW heavyweight championship saw a brutal Strap match between a pre-Crow Sting and the champion Big Van Vader, who beat his opponent in a bloody, exciting, bloody exciting encounter to retain the gold.
