7. Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega treads a fine line; his arch delivery by definition invites us to laugh at, and not with him. This is a man who uses the word "alas" in interviews.

Omega speaks in an affected sort of way, like an intellectual super-villain with plans on domination: it's perhaps no coincidence that, following his incredible IWGP Heavyweight Title win over Kazuchika Okada in June, he vowed to change the world. Throughout that breathless promo, Omega seemed to atone for his old heel character with a new humble streak - but he had lost none of the humour that informed his Cleaner character as a multi-faceted entertainment machine. "We just had an hour-long main event, I'm tired, I've almost died," he said, and that instant escalation of stakes was emblematic of his incredible, disarming wit.

Unusually soft-spoken by the standards of the hyper-masculine pro wrestling arena, Omega needs not shout to convey his point. And he makes a very salient point in all of his promos: he vows to entertain and represent fans across the globe as the face of New Japan's global expansion.

Both ostentatious in-ring genius and everyman, there is nothing of which Omega isn't capable - even of changing the world, if All Elite Wrestling lives up to its promise.
