4. Alexa Bliss

On a number of occasions it has been claimed that Alexa Bliss is WWE's most improved performer in 2016, and that may well be the case. The Wicked Witch of the WWE started the year as the valet of Blake and Murphy, former NXT Tag Team Champions who had fallen on some tough times. She ends the year as the SmackDown Live Women's Champion.

It is a testament to Alexa Bliss' ability that she has proven so successful as a heel both on NXT and now on SmackDown Live. She is substantially smaller than everyone else on the roster, yet through her mannerisms and demeanour she has positioned herself as a legitimate threat to her larger opponents.

How long will Bliss' title reign last? Many believe it is a transitional one in order to get the title onto Nikki Bella. It may turn out to be so, but this time can never be taken away from the Five Feet of Fury.

Eyebrows were turned upwards when Bliss was drafted to the main roster in the 2016 draft, but those eyebrows have been more than proved wrong.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
