Only in our dreams.

Considering there is only one major wrestling superpower in the world, we've become a bit spoiled over the years by being gifted a plethora of dream matches featuring the biggest stars in the business. Nearly all the top names in wrestling have battled each other at one point or another.

Of course there are wrestlers in NJPW, TNA, ROH and other promotions we'd love to see battle WWE's best, but most of the big money matches over the past couple decades have happened in one of Vince McMahon's rings. However, there have been a few that for one reason or another never went down, and sadly never will.

For this list, we’re going to look at big wrestling matches that actually could have happened, but never did. That means something like Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle isn't considered here. It would have been phenomenal to have seen them compete, but Hart’s retirement in 2000 made the two squaring off impossible.

We're also going to focus on matches that we didn’t see in any form. So while Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair absolutely should have battled in the WWF, along with Hogan and Hart, we did eventually see those bouts in WCW (no matter how lackluster they were) so they won't be found here either.

There's no going back, though. Some huge showdowns involving major stars just weren't meant to be, and we're only left imagining what they would have been like. Here are the 10 biggest wrestling matches that never happened.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
