10 Consequences Daniel Bryan's Neck Injury Could Cause WWE

When it comes to going out injured in the WWE, the 'big one' is always the dreaded neck injury. Unfortunately for Daniel Bryan, that's exactly what he is having to deal with right now. Reports that he was injured first emerged on Monday afternoon, with it later clarified on Monday Night Raw that the star would indeed be missing ring time due to a neck issue. The hard hitting ring style he has wrestled for over fifteen years has finally caught up with him. The surgery for this is being described as 'minimally invasive' and is scheduled for this Thursday. Bryan looks set to miss the European tour and perhaps even the June 1st Payback pay-per-view. There is of course a chance he is back sooner, just as there is a chance he will be out longer - once the neck is opened up in surgery, only then will we know the full extent of the neck damage. The omens aren't good when you consider the WWE's history on neck injuries. Austin, Angle, Edge, Lita... it isn't the kind of injury which can ever really be fully dealt with. Kurt Angle went down the 'minimally invasive' route and was back under the knife within the year. Steve Austin and Edge both had a major surgery and sat out a year, but still ended up having to finish their career way sooner than they would have liked. Bryan and WWE are in uncertain territory. The timing is simply terrible. Bryan as WWE Champion is barely over a month into the biggest push of his career. Let's examine 10 consequences this injury could cause for him and the WWE.
