The 1998 Royal Rumble match boasted some considerable star power in terms of guys that would be valuable throughout 1998 and beyond. In addition to Austin, you had The Rock, Mick Foley (three times), Ken Shamrock, Owen Hart, among others.

For reasons not exactly clear, a total of eight wrestlers lasted 25 minutes-plus, and most of them were drowning in the midcard at the time. Sure, Rock was the bell-cow at 51 minutes (nobody would argue his lengthy stay), but past him, it was a motley crew.

Check this list out: Bradshaw (36 minutes), D-Lo Brown (32), 8-Ball (31), Phineas Godwinn (29), Headbanger Thrasher (28), Goldust (26), and Terry "Chainsaw Charlie" Funk (25). At times, the ring was way too clogged up, and it wouldn't be until Austin entered 24th that the ring was given a true bypass operation.
