10 Fascinating WWE WrestleMania 23 Facts
4. Trump Agreed To Take The Stunner, Despite An Assistant's Objections
So the McMahon/Trump/Lashley/Umaga/Austin clustershmazz does what it's supposed to do, delivering oodles of hard-hitting chaos in one carefully-designed car wreck. McMahon gets his head shaved, looking like Telly Savalas with broader shoulders. Thanks to Trump's presence, there's plenty of footage for media outlets to roll for the next 24 hours or so, giving WWE their desired mainstream rub.
Just to punctuate the madness, Austin had one of his noted "DTA" moments, doling out a Stunner to a man he admittedly voted for ten years later. According to Austin, Vince suggested the idea of Trump receiving a Stunner, and it didn't take much for "The Donald" to agree to it. He simply asked Vince if would be a good thing for the show, and the boss assured him the crowd would go berserk. That was all Trump needed to hear.
Austin adds that an unnamed handler of Trump's was standing by during the conversation, fervently trying to talk the mogul out of it. Trump ignored his pleas, deferring to McMahon's instincts as an experienced showman.
