10 Female Wrestlers WWE Should Sign

We're currently in the midst of a women's revolution in WWE.

While that term has become something of an irritating tagline given how much it's parroted by Michael Cole on TV, it has been genuinely heartening to see how far female wrestlers have come in WWE in just a few years.

For so long, the majority of the WWE's women's division was made up of inexperienced models and it seemed unlikely female talent would ever be afforded the same opportunities as the men.

Fortunately, all that has changed thanks to the work of Sara Amato and the four horsewomen (Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch) down in NXT. In the space of 12 months, we've gone from a women's main event at an NXT TakeOver show to female wrestlers headlining a WWE PPV inside Hell in a Cell.

However, if WWE is to keep the momentum going in the women's division, the company has to start hiring more female talent.

In NXT, Asuka is leading the charge but she's so good that finding legitimate challengers for her title has become a problem. Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Liv Morgan and Aliyah need time to improve, while the supremely talented Ember Moon is clearly waiting until WrestleMania weekend for her shot at the champ.

Mickie James' return at NXT TakeOver: Toronto was a great fix but Asuka needs more talented women to work with in the coming months.

With rumours of a WWE Network women's tournament in 2017 too, here's 10 female wrestlers WWE should be looking at.

In her two stints with WWE, Gail Kim had to be one of the most underutilised talents of all time.

Despite winning the WWE women's championship in her debut match for the company, it seemed like those in the company never really got behind her and it was her work in TNA which truly solidified her as one of the all time great female wrestlers.

The TNA Hall of Fame inductee's second run in WWE between 2008 and 2011 was particularly pointless as she was given next to nothing to do. When her contract expired, Kim even vowed not to re-sign with the company because of how she felt the company was holding back female talent.

However, the landscape in WWE is very different in 2016 for women and it would be interesting to see if Kim could be persuaded to reconsider.

Following the success of Mickie James' return to challenge Asuka, a similar scenario with Gail Kim taking on the NXT women's champ over Royal Rumble weekend could be perfect for all parties.
