The man is a heel yet, coming out of TakeOver having lost his title match, finds himself more over than virtually the entire NXT roster combined. Yes, everyone popped huge for Gargano's win, but that was as much to do with the quality of the match itself and the story it told as it was the name being announced after the bell.

His trademark "Adam Cole Bay-bay" motto was parroted by fans at every single wrestling event regardless of whether he was there or not, and Undisputed Era tees were the second most common sight around New York across the entire weekend - more on the first later. Despite a divisive start in WWE he is now cemented as the biggest thing currently not on the main roster, and would arguably dwarf half of his colleagues from day one if and when he receives the call up.

Want more proof? Why do you think the crowd was so angry with the decision to have The Bar interfere in the Raw main event? An audience of alleged "smarks" didn't for one second believe that the Universal/WWE Championship match was going to end with a title changing hands; they knew it was going to be used as a way to get heat for someone.

With Cole defeated at TakeOver and rumours that the Undisputed Era were the only members of the NXT roster not already shipped back to Orlando, they were a logical and incredibly exciting possibility. The disappointment of it not being them turned half of the Barclay's Center against two champions they had popped huge for 24 hours earlier.
