10 Monster Wrestling Matches That Were Devastating Disappointments

6. Brock Lesnar Vs Braun Strowman

It's getting tougher to suggest if Brock Lesnar's WWE second life has been the stirring success story it appeared to be during his 2014/15 purple patch with the WWE Title.

Until that point, the booking of his character was desperately short of consistency, with the company yet to discover the formula that would briefly delight and dazzle at the top of the card. Unfortunately, that well has now also ran dry. There are few duller destinations for WWE tourists to visit than Suplex City (b*tch), with even his opponents presumably less enthused to take the Lesnar spot on a major event than they may have been before.

Braun Strowman may yet recover from the pay-per-view mauling he took, but Lesnar owed far more to the 'Monster Among Men' than what he afforded him on the night. Less willing to show mercy at No Mercy, Brock reverted to type, outmuscling his bigger opponent with suplexes and a kimura that should have been instantly broken had it not been for a logic hole gaping enough for both giants to leap through.

The typically breathy Brock looked tired, but Strowman looked exhausted. The defeat subsequently looked convincing, but that wasn't remotely the point.

Poorly constructed and executed, WWE were at least correct not to 'save' this for WrestleMania. Whenever round 2 does come along, it needs an entirely different thought process.
