One of the great struggles of any big business is to maintain the loyalty and professionalism of its employers, something which becomes doubly important for a company under as much public scrutiny as the WWE. Unfortunately for Vince McMahon, the wrestling industry is absolutely littered with incidents of workers acting in a selfish, greedy, or even destructive manner, with little regard for the reputation of themselves or the people paying their salaries. The fans lap this up, of course. There's nothing more exciting than a leaked backstage scandal, especially when it comes out of the WWE. Despite its outward presentation as a slick, modern enterprise, it is still a wrestling company, and therefore suffers all the shady problems typical to the industry. Theories are made, shoot interviews are poured over, and sides are taken. Quite often - it has to be said - the problem lies with the WWE. Promotions have a history of screwing over their performers, a tradition which goes as far back as the business itself. It's also far easier for most of us to empathise with a single figure standing up for themselves, rather than the huge corporate empire opposing them.
