10 Rarely Used WWE Moves That Always Get A Pop
1. Punt (Randy Orton)
In the post-kayfabe wrestling world in which the company currently sits, there are only a handful of moves that are protected and treated as legitimately damaging. The most significant of these is the Punt Kick deployed by Randy Orton when he is at the aggressive heights of his Apex Predator gimmick.
The punt was first used during Orton's feud with Shawn Michaels in 2007, which led to HBK taking time off with a storyline concussion that was said to be career-threatening (in reality, he was recovering from a legitimate knee injury). In the subsequent months, Orton left behind a string of victims, including Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes and even John Cena's father. It was during Orton's feud with the McMahon family in 2009 that the punt became truly notorious, when the Viper kicked the boss in the skull.
Given the increased concussion awareness in modern WWE, it doesn't suit the company to showcase a move that is kayfabe guaranteed to concuss opponents. As a result, the punt hasn't been dusted off in quite some time. However, whenever Orton takes a step back into the corner and readies for a big kick, the fans know what's coming and they certainly react accordingly.
