10 Reasons Why WWE Owner Vince McMahon Just Lost $842 Million

10. The Underwhelming NBC Universal Deal For WWE Television

Let's get straight to the heart of what wiped Vince McMahon's billionaire status out: the disappointing deal he got with NBC Universal to keep Raw, Smackdown and other WWE programming. No other broadcaster was willing to pay the money to get a wrestling brand which has a proven audience. The TV world doesn't like wrestling no matter what proven success, that message has came through loud and clear this past week. So underwhelming was the new deal that WWE didn't even bother to officially comment on what it was worth. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes to be $142.5 million over the course of the deal. That's what squashed McMahon's value as much as anything, investors suddenly looked at WWE as nowhere near valuable as first thought. The belief had been that McMahon would get over $200 million, for the reality to be $142 million it said it all - WWE wasn't really worth up to $30 dollars a share. The correction that took place was severe, with the stock going from near 20 dollars to around 10 in the space of the 24 hours after the new TV deal was announced. So on the surface, that's what cost Vince the most, the TV deal announcement and the fervour around it was like venom to the perception of WWE value. There's so much more to this than just the TV deal though...
