10 Reasons WWE's Brand Split Doesn’t Need Saving

Seems like the Brand Split is doing just fine!

Last week someone here at WhatCulture was crass enough to write an article by the pretty incendiary title of “10 Quick Fixes To Save The WWE Brand Split”.

That may sound like I’m throwing a fellow writer under the bus but in this case I don’t think anyone will mind, primarily because that someone who wrote the article was me.

Of course, I didn’t write it with the intent of simply getting a rise out of people. In fact, I was keen to stress that “the WWE Brand Split doesn’t necessarily need saving, per se” and admitted that the ten suggested quick fixes were more like minor tweaks as opposed much-needed overhauls required to save a sinking ship. I even added some much-loved clips of wrestling saves from over the years to show that I was coming from a place of good faith.

My intentions were good, honest!

Either way, I can see how the title of the piece may have made it come across as a little bit overly negative. So in the spirit of retrospectively explaining oneself, think of this article as something of a riposte, as we count down ten reasons the WWE Brand Split doesn’t actually need saving at all.

10. It’s Been Less Than Two Months

The WWE Draft returned to our screens less than a couple of months back on Jul. 19 2016. Since then, both Raw and SmackDown have staged just six brand-exclusive shows apiece.

In the grand scheme of things, that’s really not a long enough timespan upon which to be drawing any meaningful conclusions.

In fact, in a world where the Authority ruled the roost for the better part of three years, and the Undertaker took 15 months to decide he wanted to exact revenge on Brock Lesnar for ending his WrestleMania Streak, six weeks is practically the blink of an eye.

Maybe I’m being a tad facetious with those examples but the point still stands; the Brand Split simply hasn’t been in place for long enough for us to decide whether or not it’s in need of rescue.
