8. New Jack & Vic Grimes Almost Kill Themselves

New Jack might be the scariest man to ever lace up a pair of wrestling boots. The former ECW madman has built a fearsome reputation, and from stabbing an opponent nine times during a match to the infamous Mass Transit Incident, his rap sheet is longer than most laundry lists.

In March 2000, at ECW’s Living Dangerously pay-per-view, New Jack and Vic Grimes almost killed themselves on a botched scaffold spot. The duo were supposed to take a 25ft fall with a set of tables softening their landing, but Grimes tried to bail at the last minute. Jack held onto him, however, pulling him downwards for the fall, causing them to completely miss the table.

They fell onto the concrete, and to make matters worse, the 315 lb Grimes landed right on New Jack’s head. Jack suffered legitimate brain damage and was permanently blinded in his right eye as a result, with Tommy Dreamer commenting that he “literally thought New Jack was dead” after the fall.

It was a horrifying moment for all watching, but the vindictive Jack had his revenge, deliberately throwing Grimes from a 40ft scaffold during a similar match two years later.
