Professional wrestling excels when it comes to symmetry and synchronicity. Anniversaries are important, dates matter and being able to hark back to an 'on this day...' is something of a special pleasure for all involved.

This even extends to outside the ring, and without those involved being aware. Shawn Michaels recently celebrated his 17th wedding anniversary with his wife Rebecca, the marriage that Michaels openly admits changed his life and turned him away from the abyss.

Rebecca helped clean Michaels up, and together the two of them found solace in the church. Whether you agree with it or not, it worked for them.

March 31st was also the day on which Shawn Michaels won the WWF Championship for the very first time. WrestleMania XII was the event, and Michaels came out on top against great rival Bret Hart in the famous Iron Man match that headlined the show.

Michaels claims in the podcast that he wasn't aware of his anniversary being on the same day, but I'd take this with a pinch of salt.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
