10 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Chris Benoit
6. An Entire Episode Of Raw Was Dedicated To Him
There have been 1,125 episodes of WWE's flagship show Monday Night Raw, which began back in January 1993. When WWE reached milestones in recent years like the 1,000th episode or the 20 year anniversary, they were considered big deals. What WWE doesn't want you to know about Raw is that they dedicated an entire episode to Chris Benoit. It was June 25, 2007 and Raw was supposed to take place in Corpus Christi, Texas. Instead, the show started with Vince McMahon in the ring talking about how Chris Benoit had passed away. At the time, WWE didn't know that he committed the double murder suicide of his wife, his son and himself, so they aired a tribute episode similar to what they had done for Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero in the past. For the next three hours on that episode of Raw, WWE superstars and divas talked about how sad they were about Benoit's death. Matches of Benoit were shown for the entire episode while WWE's commentators were also on hand to offer thoughts about him. Leading up to the show, it really wasn't known that Benoit had committed murder. The incident was from a day earlier, so by the time Raw started there were still questions about it. By late Monday night, most people knew the truth and that's why it's a decision that likely haunts WWE to this day. It's the one episode of Raw that will probably never be uploaded to WWE Network if they ever decide to upload all of them. This is one night of Raw WWE truly wants all of us to forget.
