10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1991

Flair, Bret, Hogan, Taker, and more!

As we have seen from previous installments, sometimes the biggest stories in WWF/E happen off screen rather than on screen. Last time, in 1992, we learned that Marty Jannetty was fired (one of many times), Lex Luger's official debut was in the World Bodybuilding Federation, Bret Hart got the "flu" to cover up the fact that he had a contract dispute, and the entire Summerslam card was changed mid-booking, among other tidbits. In this installment, we take a look at 1991, which was a crazy year for the WWF. It was the last year of Hulk Hogan's unchallenged dominance over the company. Heels like The Undertaker and Jake "The Snake" Roberts were legitimately scary, as they might lock you in a casket or make a cobra bite you. A NWA/WCW legend in Ric Flair made his debut in the WWF. And Bret "The Hitman" Hart broke out from the tag team ranks and began his legendary singles career. With so much happening on- and off-screen, you€™d think you would know everything that went on backstage in the WWF, but you€™d be wrong. There are plenty of little nuggets of trivia that came from this year. Some of these you may have also known about, but simply forgot. Here are 10 things you didn€™t know about the WWF in 1991.
