10 Times Vince McMahon Cut Off His Nose To Spite His Face

It's our fault Vladimir Kozlov didn't get over.

In his legendary "Pipebomb" promo, CM Punk famously (and accurately) described Vince McMahon as a "millionaire who should be a billionaire."

What he meant by that is simple: the only reason why people even begin to doubt that he's the greatest wrestling promoter of all time - aside from the fact that he hates the word "wrestling" - is that he's as famous for his stubbornness as much as he is his grapefruit-sized testicles. McMahon marches entirely to the beat of his own drum, and sometimes this unflappability has dire implications on his product.

The man has even gone so far as to tell the fans that, "it isn't about what you want, it's about what I want!" several times on live television - so you can imagine how resolute he is behind the scenes. Famously impervious to the desires of his fanbase, McMahon seems to revel in sticking it to them at times, knowing full well that they're not going anywhere.

Examples of this attitude are legion, but here are ten of the most baffling...

10. The Roman Empire

What will it take for Vince to give up on the Roman Reigns experiment?

Yes, he's adopted a tweener role of late, but that smacks of Vince clinging on for dear life rather than relinquishing his grip. Vince doesn't care about the jeers, even if he does try to neutralise them with his mic-muting shenanigans - if he did, Cena would have been turned a long time ago. Bret Hart recently remarked that it takes a lot for Vince to give up on a push, given that several T-shirt designs and promotional materials are dreamt up well in advance. (if only WWE's television storylines were considered with such forethought.)

It therefore looks like we're stuck with Reigns for a while yet. The thing is, in persisting with this push, Vince probably isn't alienating existing fans to a serious degree. Unless Network subscriptions or ratings plummet with Reigns atop the mountain, he won't feel in any rush, wellness policy violation or not. At least with the forthcoming brand split, we'll only see him for half the time - unless they don't treat the separation too seriously, which is entirely possible.

And, if we can put up with some of the other entries on this list, we're not going to suddenly stop watching...
