Seth Rollins has been front and centre for some rather unfortunate scenes during his relatively short-but-eventful WWE tenure, but turning John Cena into John Merrick during a 2015 Monday Night Raw match remains one of the most grisly visuals from his personal hall of pain.

'The Architect' tastefully reimagined 'The Champ's facial features with a laser-focused knee right in the conk. With no way to hide the damage, WWE instead delivered several replays of it, including one in which the the full force of Rollins' leg could be seen almost entirely flattening the 'Face That Runs the Place'.

Unlike a mammoth botch or a dangerous hold or throw gone wrong, this was a rare reminder of the reality of how close performers are to absolutely destroying one another every time they throw a worked forearm. A millimetre's difference in distance can be what dictates if a wrestler goes for drinks at the hotel bar or reconstructive work at the local emergency room. A leader in the locker room and that night in the ring, Cena probably aimed to get to both as soon as he could get himself through the curtain.
