10 Wrestlers Failed By NXT

9. Mason Ryan

Even Mason Ryan would admit that his call-up to the main roster of WWE came too early. Originally a member of CM Punk’s Nexus, the big man seemed horrifically out of his depth. When they broke up, he bounced around the undercard for a while before the Welshman was sent down to NXT to hone his craft.

Unfortunately for him, that wasn’t to be. Much like his post-Nexus life on the main roster, Ryan found opportunities hard to come by. After an unbeaten streak, he entered into a feud with Enzo and Cass which ended after they beat him in a handicap match. From there his appearances were limited, and his last appearance on NXT TV was a losing effort to Tyson Kidd.

Ryan was a guy who had all the attributes required to be a successful professional wrestler. I mean, just look at him. And yet NXT wasn’t able to give him the second life that it gave the likes of Cesaro. Instead, he has been forced to find his way in the world outside of the bubble of WWE.
