15 Things We Learned From Vince McMahon On The Steve Austin Show

The WWE Chairman shoots with The Rattlesnake.

Vince McMahon has finally been held to account on a range of issues that always fascinated wrestling fans. The WWE Chairman was interviewed by Stone Cold Steve Austin on the WWE Network, with The Rattlesnake asking questions on everything from CM Punk to Randy Savage. Austin was recording the show for a later podcast, but this really was a must see. You've got to watch it. Only then do you get the full range of reactions from the Chairman, who responds with emotional instinct on a variety of subjects. In terms of quality, this show was without doubt the best new thing to ever air on WWE Network. Austin had free rule to ask whatever and he showed no intimidation in asking the big questions. McMahon was visibly flustered in some sections. Mentions of CM Punk and Randy Savage seemed to unsettle him a little, but it wasn't as if he was seriously troubled by any of Austin's discussions. He was definitely more at ease when talking about his own history with Austin, recounting with glee the successful Attitude Era boom. As for Stone Cold, he was masterful in his delivery. He asked strong critical questions, but framed them in a way that wasn't harsh or upsetting to his guest. You could sense the mutual respect that both Austin and McMahon have developed for each other. The overall judgement has to be that McMahon played the entire hour and nine minutes to perfection. You do however get the feeling that he's a man lost in the complications of his own company. The irony is that he doesn't need all those complications. Too many layers of staff and too many departments just create more work than is needed. As Austin says, things were hot when it was just McMahon and Patterson writing the shows, so why is WWE so bureaucratic nowadays? All that and more is covered as we explore the big talking points.
