It's genuinely difficult to get excited about this year's Survivor Series.
NXT's invasion is getting in the way of TakeOver: War Games hype, the phoney "brand supremacy" tagline is tired and the general pointlessness of the card this Sunday sticks out like a sore thumb on the pay-per-view schedule. Survivors feels like a jazzed-up house show special in line with Smackville or Starrcade, not a must-see event.
Is it all doom and gloom? No, not quite. There will be some good in-ring action from the usual suspects on Sunday, but it's hard to shake the thought that WWE are sleepwalking their way to the end of 2019 without inspiration. For those keeping score, this is the second supershow in a row (Crown Jewel included) that's had next-to-nothing going for it.
Somehow, the most talented are making the most of things. Hidden gems on this week's Raw include Becky Lynch speaking her mind, Buddy Murphy showing why he needs more attention, some subtly cool house show integration, killer bumps and one fan showing Randy Orton his possible future.
