The Wyatts own a Randy Orton standee...

Could SmackDown Live keep up their run of bettering RAW in the battle of the brands this week? After a shaky start to life in the separated WWE Universe, the blue brand clawed things back and have been the better show for the last few weeks at the very least. They might have been for longer, but my memory is broken at the moment with the amount of wrestling there is to watch each week.

SmackDown's ascension to the top of the WWE Universe is largely down to the scale of the matchups Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan have been wiling to give away for free, as opposed to waiting for a Network Special to roll around.

Last week we had Dean Ambrose vs. John Cena and an Intercontinental Championship bout between The Miz and Dolph Ziggler, while this week we were all salivating at the prospect of a WWE World Championship match between Ambrose and defending champ AJ Styles.

I think SmackDown are going about this brand extension war like WCW. Shane and Dan are all about the TV ratings while Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley are looking at the bigger picture. Although, given the brands aren't actually going up against each other and the kayfabe littered in Vince McMahon's brand extension announcement promo was smashed a long time ago, there's no need for us to worry about the future of SmackDown.

KEEP GIVING US THESE BIG MATCHES, plz.

Here are all of the WTF Moments from this week's SmackDown Live...

16. Mauro's Memory Malfunction

I don't like picking fault with Mauro Ranallo's commentary. I believe he is the best play-by-play man in the game today.

However, the person who wrote the scripts for this week's show had him repeatedly claim that the Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles match saw the WWE World Championship defended on SmackDown Live for the first time ever.

Frankly, this is wrong, and the person who wrote those fabled scripts for this week's show was woefully misinformed.

The first ever SmackDown Live on July 19, surely the most important SmackDown there has been to date, saw Ambrose defend his WWE World Championship against Seth Rollins. Ambrose retained, if you're interested.

It wasn't the fact that Mauro said this, it's the amount of times he said it that makes this list. I don't know about you, but I was pleading for somebody to have a word in his ear and make it stop.

Why didn't they?
