AEW's emergence has opened more than a few eyes in WWE's locker-room.

If the year's press coverage is anything to go by, WWE's 2019 has been rife with backstage turmoil, with the likes of Jon Moxley and TJP navigating successful exits from the company while the likes of Sasha Banks, Luke Harper, and The Revival attempt to do the same.

Per Dave Meltzer on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, these performers may only be the iceberg's tip.

Having previously reported on the large "unhappy middle" in WWE's locker-room, Meltzer stated that "way more" wrestlers than the public are aware of have "inquired regarding what's outside," with some asking for their release - including "names that would shock you."

Given that WWE only seem capable of getting a handful of wrestlers right at any given time, the list of "shocking" names is short. One would immediately gravitate towards company men and women or those who came through the developmental system at the very start of their careers. We'll leave such speculation to the comments section, though.

Whatever the case, it's clear that WWE's backstage issues aren't clearing up anytime soon, particularly with the vindictive way in which the promotion have handled most release requests in 2019.
