"Special Announcement" To Be Made On NXT This Week

"With no additional details currently available..."

As posted on WWE.com, and spotted by eagled-eyed JJ Williams of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, "this week's NXT will feature a special announcement."

"With no additional details currently available..." we can only speculate.

In the first season of the seminal Twin Peaks, protagonist FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper remarked "When two separate events occur simultaneously pertaining to the same object of inquiry, we must pay strict attention."

On this week's main roster programming, Ricochet, Aleister Black, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa were suddenly called up - in what capacity exactly remains unclear, and that likely extends to the man that actually made the decision. This simultaneous announcement is perhaps...curious in its timing. It's a cynical guess, this, but we live in deeply cynical times: will NXT hold a live taping of sorts as pretext to remove the NXT and North American Championships from the former (and or current, who knows anymore) #DIY?

Or is this all a coincidence? Perhaps the format of NXT is set to change; the FOX deal reportedly includes as-yet-unannounced programming supplemental to SmackDown Live. Or maybe this pertains to TakeOver: New York, and the complexion of the card - but then, NXT tends to take a diegetic approach untarnished by "LOOK AT THIS!" desperation.

"Speculation about what's in store for the black-and-gold brand is running wild," the statement continued.

Speculation...or widespread Full Sail panic?
