4 Things That May Happen At WWE Wrestlemania 29

wrestlemania 29Tonight we will see the biggest and most hyped wrestling event of the year, Wrestlemania. This year is the 29th edition, and as such, the internet is wild with speculation, fantasy booking and predictions. They are everywhere. So with that said, I want to outline four things that may happen at the "Showcase of the Immortals". This will not be a prediction column, rather a set of events that may be an afterthought to the current card. The build to Wrestlemania 29 has been surprisingly weaker than usual. And that has developed a jarring and unsettled shape and feel to the card itself. WWE often up their game after the Rumble and present us with a set of focused, compelling and interesting "once off" angles for the big one. This year has few of these. Should I count the passing of William Moody as a way to build a match? No? I thought not. The only thing that really drew me in at any point was the Jack Swagger 2.0 reboot. This lack of "Wrestlemania-Hype" has lead me to a striking conclusion: We have to get one, or a series of swerves tonight. It is the only thing that makes sense. I am not one that calls for this often, see TNA for why that is a bad idea, however this move would be the only thing to save this show from being awfully boring. This is always the chance of a MITB cash-in so I have excluded that. With that in mind, here we go... 1. A Cena/Orton Heel Turn Wrestleview.com is reporting that, ESPN's Jon Robinson is featuring a lengthy interview with WWE star John Cena talking about Wrestlemania 29 this Sunday and addresses if he would ever consider the idea of going heel on WWE programming in the near future. "I just don€™t see me getting there in order to please a very small group of 30-year-olds. To be very honest with you, every single week I meet kids with life-threatening illnesses and they€™ll tell me how much I mean to them, and their parents will tell me how inspirational I€™ve been to their kids. We raised a million dollars last year for breast cancer. I€™m helping spearhead the Hurricane Sandy relief fund at this year€™s Wrestlemania. I€™ve been able to give back to the military in Tribute to the Troops. And I€™m currently working on a program to help America shave 5 million pounds. All of this stuff I would have to stop if I was a €œbad guy.€ To be a bad guy, you actually have to be a bad guy. I just don€™t have it in me, personally. So although you might get a great story out of it for nine months, doing it would just take away so much, and I don€™t have that club in the bag." Thank you for that, John. No. I am not begging for a Cena heel turn. This just may happen. And I believe that it would be a very good move for him as a character. Check out his work with Taker in 2003 for some proof. With all of that said, I think this is very unlikely. And not just for the fact that the children love him, and that he brings in huge money from t-shirts alone. I just don't know what would be the point, right now. The only reason I can think of is that he loses to the Rock, and goes nuts with a chair or something. Or that he does an Austin turn from WM17 and wins the belt with the help of a heel. This would allow him to beat the Rock and continue the feud into the Summer. It would shock the world of wrestling and be a satisfying ending to the show. The big question is who could replace Cena as WWE's top guy? I believe it to be Ryback, as I said on my radio show this week. Although tonight may be too soon to pull that trigger. So this one still remains unlikely. http://youtu.be/IO9tTVe0c8c Randy Orton on the other hand, now there is someone who has been dying to turn for a long time. Expect a heel turn tonight. His match is made to set this up. Orton will more than likely attack Sheamus to end the match, and may even reveal himself as the head of The Shield. I will be shocked if this turn doesn't happen.
