5 Best Steve Austin Matches (Before He Was Stone Cold)

2. The Dangerous Alliance Vs. The Sting Squadron (WrestleWar 1992)

Austin once competed in one of WCW's signature gimmick matches, War Games.

He started the match for Paul Heyman's Dangerous Alliance against Sting Squadron's Barry Windham, furthering their feud for the WCW Television championship. Austin was busted wide open within the second period which certainly foreshadowed the brutality that had yet to come.

The crowd erupted upon each entry, even for most of the heels. The spot where Barry Windham put Arn Anderson's head between the two minimally spaced rings was absolutely mental. Madusa randomly climbed on top of the cage and Larry Zbyszko accidentally threw Bobby Eaton into an exposed turnbuckle to the utmost delight of the crowd. Almost each and every second of this match was ridiculous fun of five star quality.

The role Austin played within the match was minimal besides bleeding everywhere. The match's greatness primarily comes from the other wrestlers involved - specifically Sting, Anderson, Zbyszko, Dustin Rhodes, and Rick Rude. That being said, this match itself is an absolute gem, especially with Good ol' J.R. on play-by-play commentary.
