There was nothing spectacular about last night's SmackDown. The matches were solid without being anything you need to go out of your way to see, and the angles were largely successful in pushing their respective storylines forward, if a tad formulaic It was a perfectly enjoyable show for much of the runtime, however, and one that should help the brand move forward from its recent dip in quality.

Money In The Bank took centre stage once again, with AJ Styles and Dolph Ziggler squaring off in the main event, and the other participants clashing in a tag match at the top of the show. Elsewhere, the women found themselves subjected to a huge announcement when their number one contender's bout descended into chaos, The New Day finally made their long-awaited SmackDown debut, and a driven Randy Orton returned from last week's absence, desperate to reclaim the WWE Championship.

The show produced a number of major talking points, and the build towards MITB now feels appropriately chaotic. The WWE Title feud remains a drag, but this time of year is all about the briefcase anyway, and that excitement should help SmackDown coast through the next few weeks.

With that in mind, let's take a look at who raised the bar, and who brought SD crashing back down to earth.
