5 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (March 20)

If we’re in a car on the Road to WrestleMania, Monday night’s episode of Raw veered into a ditch, overturned multiple times and burst into flames.

It’s not that Raw was offensively bad, but there was little that could be said nice about the program, while fans had to endure multiple segments with a sneering Stephanie McMahon and a loquacious Triple H.

We got to see Sami Zayn stand up to Stephanie… and get treated like a goof. We saw Cesaro and Sheamus thank Mick Foley… and get punished. We saw Bayley hug Foley… and lose a big match. We saw Roman Reigns attack an AARP member from behind after the Undertaker disposed of the Big Dog’s enemy for him. We learned what a “hold harmless” contract was… whether we wanted to or not. And we saw the sheer brilliance of Chris Jericho on full display… and the brutality of Kevin Owens.

Raw continued its uneven and overall lackluster build to a subpar WrestleMania, an event that will likely live or die on the strength of a couple undercard matches rather than the “draws” the company is pushing. Combine that with uninspired ring action and you’ve got a really rough Raw. But hey, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg will actually show up in person next week rather than in a highlight package!

Let’s find out what sizzled and what fizzled. Let’s get to it…

Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
