7 Reasons Why Sting Is WCW's Biggest Ever Star
From his rivalries to his title wins, there's no question that Sting is WCW's biggest star ever.
The rumors of Sting joining WWE are stronger than ever. There were reports this week by the Wrestling Observer that Sting is set to meet Vince McMahon in person for the first time ever during SummerSlam weekend in Los Angeles. Sting will be there to help sell the WWE 2K15 video game that he's a part of. While his contract hasn't been signed yet, it's likely going to happen in the near future. When Sting was on Jim Ross' Ross Report podcast this week, Ross called him the biggest star in the history of World Championship Wrestling. It was not a bold statement because it's something a lot of us would agree with, but it got us thinking about why Sting is seen in that light. Sting wrestled every big name in WCW. He lost to a lot of them, but he beat most of them too. As the top babyface of the company for so long he was in position where he was able to have rivalries with the likes of Flair, Hogan and Goldberg to name a few. When Hogan turned heel in 1996 a big reason why he could do that is because WCW had Sting there to replace him as the top babyface. Fans of WCW didn't see Hogan as a WCW guy. He was there because of the money. With Sting, fans felt more of a connection. He's the one that was loyal to WCW from day one right until the day the company died. That's why there's a special bond with Sting and wrestling fans. Here's a look at seven reasons why Jim Ross and many others believe Sting is WCW's biggest star ever.
