7 Times Wrestlers Recovered From A Burial

Maybe Triple H just forgot to bring his shovel to work…

It’s one of the most go-to phrases on the internet amongst wrestling fans to explain why their favourite wrestler hasn’t reached the heights he should have, and we've all felt like our favourite wrestler is getting "buried" at some point. The mention of the word “buried” causes fans to boil up into a tornado of fury.

To be fair, who can blame them?

We’ve seen many a superstar take a loss that they just can’t seem to recover from, effectively killing their career and letting all the fans know how much of a joke the higher-ups think of them.

But what about the ones that don’t get buried? And when we say “don’t get buried,” we're not talking about your John Cenas or your Triple Hs, we're talking about the ones who, when faced with the golden shovel, found a way to use it to dig themselves back up. It may sound impossible, but it happens far more often then you think.

Here are seven superstars who used “the shovel” to their benefit...

7. Daniel Bryan (Wrestlemania XXVIII)

There are squash matches that lasted longer than this match; that alone should summarise just how detrimental this could have been to Daniel Bryan’s career.

Daniel Bryan winning the World Heavyweight Championship in 2012 was a sight no hardcore wrestling fan thought he would ever see. To see “the small indie guy” finally make his way to the top of the mountain in the Land of the Giants was incredible, and Bryan’s cash-in will live on in the minds of most fans.

Unfortunately, his subsequent title loss is remembered far more clearly. Sheamus shocked the world when he beat Daniel Bryan in 18 seconds for the World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania XXVIII. In the subsequent months, it looked like Bryan’s career was heading for a dead end. However, he remembered to do what he does best: Wrestle.

Winning over the crowd with his untouchable in-ring prowess, Bryan soon clawed his way back to the top of the card, eventually earned a title shot against John Cena at SummerSlam 2013, proving all his doubters wrong.
