8 Most Underrated Texas Wrestlers

7. Stevie Ray

Stevie Ray is, perhaps unfairly, best remembered as 'the other one in Harlem Heat' and the brother of Booker T. While Booker's big bro didn't reach the heights of the former 5-Time WCW World Champion, he had a !*$% fine career in his own right.

Straightshootin' Stevie started working on the Texas indies before he and Booker went to the Dallas-based Global Wrestling Federation, wrestling as The Ebony Experience and winning the GWF Tag Titles three times.

The larger Stevie also won the GWF Heavyweight Championship in 1993, shortly before the team hightailed it to WCW. Re-christened Harlem Heat, the duo had a very successful five year run in the tag division, winning the WCW World Tag Team Championships an incredible ten times.

It was inevitable that they would split eventually, though, and they went their separate ways in 1998 and even feuded. It was clear during their feud that Booker was the one destined for stardom. While not a terrible worker, Ray was best kept in tag scenarios.

Or behind the announce table as a colour commentator, as it turned out. Stevie was a riot as an announcer on Thunder, as he constantly criticized wrestlers for making mistakes and generally had a ball. Hey, someone had to have fun in WCW in 2000...

Stevie pretty much retired once his WCW run finished up and now helps run a training school with his brother. Three years ago, Stevie Ray inducted Booker T into the WWE Hall of Fame and just last year the Brothers reunited as Harlem Heat for the first time in over fifteen years, winning the Reality of Wrestling Tag Titles.

Stevie may not get a Hall of Fame induction anytime soon, but his wrestling resume is nothing to scoff at.
