9 Most Emotional WWE Raw Moments Ever

Retirements, new beginnings, and more...

Monday Night Raw is typically a mixed bag - there's some good wrestling, some boring promos, and some head-shaking farce, usually all in the same episode. The response it elicits in fans tends to run a gamut from all-out excitement to fist-pounding anger. Sometimes, though, Raw hits us a little harder than that, as we saw Monday night. On the show, Daniel Bryan made his long-awaited return to the ring in the form of a tearful retirement speech. By the time he finished his half-hour farewell to the WWE Universe and hugged wife Brie, there wasn't a single fan watching who hadn't been emotionally touched. That's wrestling - sure, everyone knows it's "fake," but when it's done properly, it's as real as anything else. Over the course of Raw's 23 years on the air, there have been hundreds of ridiculous moments, but also some that have genuinely evoked a deep response from us. Retirements, homages, and major victories have caused us to raise our hands in the air, shed tears of joy and sadness, and ultimately emerge from a broadcast changed. Here are the nine most emotional moments in the history of Monday Night Raw. They shook us to our core and often left us devastated, but they ultimately united the WWE Universe.
