CM Punk's explosive interview with Ariel Helwani included claims AEW boss Tony Khan has addressed.
AEW boss Tony Khan has responded to CM Punk's claims that the wrestler paid for his own triceps surgery whilst under contract to the company. Khan addressed the situation during a conference call to hype this weekend's Dynasty pay-per-view (shared by WrestleZone).
Tony said AEW "typically do pay those expenses", and added that Punk's claims don't "sound right". The All Elite owner admitted he wasn't 100% sure whether or not that had been covered in expenses, but is willing to properly look into things and even "reimburse" the current WWE star if he was correct.
That'd be the right thing to do, especially considering Punk's triceps injury occurred inside an AEW ring. That's what has Tony stumped - injuries that happen inside All Elite rings usually have any follow up medical bills covered.
Khan closed by saying he "can't say for sure" what the real situation is right now. He'd need to investigate, then get back to everyone on it. However, he'd have no problem footing the bill retrospectively and paying Punk back for any cash he personally put out at the time.
It's unclear whether or not this is something Punk would want to pursue further.
