AEW Dynamite's Early Ratings Numbers For TNT Premiere Are Strong

Is it good or bad news for All Elite Wrestling?

Well, the Wednesday Night Wars are officially upon us as last night saw AEW Dynamite go up against NXT. And now, the early ratings numbers are in for AEW’s TNT premiere.

Via the Wrestling Observer, the first episode of AEW Dynamite was watched live by 1.5 – 1.7 million viewers. In addition to that, another 650,000 watched the Dynamite replay that aired straight after the live broadcast.

One side note here, is that the live show number could ultimately prove to be a little lower than that 1.5 – 1.7 million figure due to an irregular spike in the Charlotte market.

If even that 1.5 million bottom-out number is accurate, that’s still a hugely positive start for All Elite Wrestling’s weekly TV product. The company was hoping to start with a strong number, but that 1.5 million would likely be even higher than AEW executives were hoping for.

As of this stage, the numbers for last night’s two-hour NXT show on the USA Network have yet to be made public – although it’s fair to say that NXT and AEW delivered a pair of excellent shows from start to finish.
