Tuesday's SmackDown saw AJ Styles make the most of his rematch clause, winning the United States Championship back from Kevin Owens... despite some resistance from Chris Jericho.

SmackDown opened with Owens - who defeated Styles for the belt at Battleground - laying out an open challenge for the title, but he was interrupted by "The Phenomenal One," who demanded his rematch. In a shocker, though, Chris Jericho came out to confront both men, and reminded them that he was also owed a rematch for the United States Championship. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon then hit the scene and made the triple-threat match official.

The bout headlined the show and saw Owens hit Jericho with a Pop-Up Powerbomb and a Frog Splash. Before he could make the cover, though, Styles tossed Owens from the ring and pinned Jericho, becoming a two-time U.S. Champion.

Following the bout, a fuming Owens took the microphone to complain about his loss and demand a rematch. WWE.com later announced that Owens was granted his wish, and a singles match between him and Styles will take place on next week's edition of SmackDown.
