AJ Styles Turns Down TNA Hall Of Fame And Another Match

TNA's biggest homegrown talent doesn't want to come back.

AJ Styles has turned down TNAs offer of a return and Hall of Fame induction. That would have meant a return to their Slammiversary PPV on June 28 where they announce the new Hall of Famer and then a small ceremony a few months later. According to PWInsider, the offer was made about one or two months ago and he turned them down. They offered styles an excellent deal to appear, go into their Hall of Fame, have one match at Slammiversary and that's all there would be to it. Styles passed because he's currently working for Ring of Honor and New Japan, where he currently holds the coveted IWGP Heavyweight Championship. It makes sense that he would say no because he's making great money at both ROH and NJPW. Those companies have a great working relationship, but TNA does not have any affiliation with them. There's no word on who TNA is going to induct in their Hall of Fame this year although they will likely still have their Hall of Fame. The inductees in the first three years of their Hall of Fame were Sting, Kurt Angle and Team 3D aka The Dudley Boys. What's also interesting is we noted last week that WWE has a renewed interest in Styles because they think he can make a great addition to their NXT brand, which is arguably the hottest thing in pro wrestling right now. We haven't heard anything from Styles side, but he's likely happy where he's at since he's doing so well in ROH and NJPW right now. Of course there also has to be a part of him that wonders "what if" he signed with WWE because when you look at how strongly WWE has pushed Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe, a guy like Styles might think that he could get that kind of treatment too. Styles left TNA in late 2013 after working for them since day one in 2002. He's the biggest homegrown star that they have, so it has to be disappointing for them that he would turn them down when they made him an offer to honor his career. In the wrestling business we know to never say never, but at least for now there won't be a TNA return for AJ Styles.
