Backstage News On Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks At WWE Clash Of Champions 2016
Plans have changed since Sasha returned much sooner than expected.
On a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Sasha Banks' injury was not as severe as it was originally believed to have been, which is why she is returning to the ring sooner than expected.
It was feared that Sasha would need surgery, so WWE had her drop the Women's Title to Charlotte unexpectedly at SummerSlam. But as we saw on Raw, she's already cleared to return to the ring, and is weeks away from her rematch.
This seems to change up plans a bit, as Bayley was called up to the main roster to be the back-up plan for Clash of Champions if Banks was unable to work. Now that the original planned match is still on, they'll have to find something else for Bayley to do at the show, if she'll even be on the card at all.
It's a bit curious why they had Bayley go over Charlotte on Raw if they're trying to make the rematch with Sasha feel like a showdown, but perhaps that will play into the long-term story they are going for.
