Backstage Update On AEW's Plans For Heel Jack Perry

Latest on AEW's direction for Jungle Boy after turning on HOOK.

'Jungle Boy' Jack Perry is in the midst of a radical shift in AEW, having turned heel on HOOK at Forbidden Door 2023 last weekend - and Fightful Select has the scoop on some shifts to his character.

The outlet reported prior to last night's episode of Dynamite that Perry's popular theme song, Baltimora's 'Tarzan Boy', is on the out. AEW is set to replace it with a new song.

This was reflected on Dynamite, where Perry cut Balitmora off while making his entrance. Claiming that the audience had ruined 'Tarzan Boy' for him, Jack said that the song was going away, with last night seemingly the final time AEW fans would hear it.

AEW founder and CEO Tony Khan landed the rights to the Baltimora song in 2021. It quickly became a crowd participation staple in the promotion, though it's understandable that creative would want to move away from this now that Perry is playing a heel.

Perry turned on HOOK after losing to IWGP World Heavyweight Champion SANADA at Forbidden Door. HOOK ran Perry out of the ring last night, forcing Jack to flee into a car waiting for him in the parking lot.

There is currently no word on what Jack Perry's new AEW theme song will be.
