Backstage Update On Shane McMahon's WWE Return

Is he back with the company or just a character?

Shane McMahon isn't in a managerial position with WWE, and for now is back solely as an on air character. Wrestling Observer Radio reported that his deal was worked out in the last few weeks, although the angle for a "control of WWE" match has been in the works for years. If Shane wins his match against The Undertaker inside Hell In A Cell at WrestleMania, he'll win control of Raw and end The Authority. His promo on Raw this week was based on shoot aspects, specifically his hurt at not being in line to succeed his father. He left WWE in 2009, when Vince McMahon made clear to him that Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were the company's future. Shane is currently living and working out of New York City, where he remains active with his business interests, specifically his work with China's You On Demand. How that will impact his WWE run isn't known, but in theory he should be able to attend Raw each and every week if necessary. It is possible that after his Undertaker feud, he may end up working a programme with Triple H. There are real life elements that could make their feud a really dramatic and engaging narrative.
