Backstage Update On Shane McMahon's WWE Status
Is the Commissioner back for good, or was SmackDown 1000 a one-off?
Shane McMahon made an unexpected return at SmackDown 1000, taking part in the night's opening segment with R-Truth, Carmella, and the rest of his family, during which he trumpeted the brand's supremacy over Raw, before joining the cast in a dance-off.
The SmackDown Live Commissioner had been absent from television since introducing Paige as his show's new General Manager after WrestleMania 34. Naturally, his comeback has led to all kinds of speculation on his future, and it now looks like the 48-year-old is here to stay.
According to PW Insider, McMahon will be reinstalled as a regular TV performer over the coming weeks, and will be working alongside Paige as part of the show's management team, as was the case with him and Daniel Bryan earlier this year and throughout 2017.
Shane will also be reincorporated into storylines, though no specific programmes are mentioned. This could mean more pay-per-view matches for the hardest man alive.
Though he's always a divisive presence on TV, let's hope that Shane's contributions aren't too invasive, and that he doesn't detract from Paige's performances as General Manager. Regardless, get ready for him to leap off something very, very high, very, very soon...
