Bayley's Appearance At WWE Battleground Was A "One-Time Thing"

Don't get too excited just yet...

WWE kicked off the 2016 edition of Battleground in a major way by delivering the long-awaited main roster debut of fan-favorite, Bayley.

The former NXT women's champion joined Sasha Banks, her friend and toughest rival, as the mystery partner for The Boss's tag team match against Charlotte and Dana Brooke.

All signs pointed to Bayley being Sasha's backup, and fans who were dejected that The Hugger was not among the NXT talent drafted last Tuesday consoled themselves with the thought that she would be joining those called up jut a few days later at Battleground.

As the other three women stood in the ring awaiting the arrival of Sasha's partner, the roof absolutely blew off the arena once Bayley's music hit, creating what was easily the biggest pop of the night. But while fans in the arena were overjoyed at seeing the massively popular superstar, viewers at home were privy to JBL stating that his "sources" told him that Bayley was only there as a favor to Sasha and that her appearance was a one-off, a statement reiterated by Michael Cole later on in the show.

Any confusion regarding the issue was put to rest in a WWE.com backstage interview with Banks and Bayley where the The Hugger indeed confirmed that she was still a part of the NXT roster and is focused on regaining the women's championship from Asuka.

This is disappointing for Bayley fans - in other words pretty much everyone who likes wrestling - but hopefully the reaction she received and her performance in the match will be enough to make the WWE brass realize she needs to become a mainstay on either SmackDown or Raw sooner rather than later.
