Brad Maddox Wrestles As CM Punk At WWE Live Event

WWE take a clear shot at their former world champion.

https://twitter.com/Memo__HD/status/612476321097060352 Brad Maddox dressed up like CM Punk, cut a pipebomb, and mimickimed his mannerisms and move set at WWE's live event in Las Vegas on Saturday. Maddox lost to Jack Swagger - who used his Patriot Lock for the win by submission - but it was the obvious parodying of the controversial former WWE champion that was the big talking point. A fan named Scott Fisher who was in attendance explained it to Lordsofpain: "When Maddox first came out to cut a promo some people thought he was CM Punk just by how he looked. I think a big group of teenagers tried to get the Punk chant going but it was short lived if that. Maddox did cut a 'pipebomb' promo but it fell flat and everyone just wanted him out of the ring." Another fan in attendance noted that Maddox didn't come out with Punk's theme song but he did cut a promo about how people may have forgotten who he was. It was also noteworthy because Maddox changed up his in-ring style a bit with more kicks and some MMA style moves as well. https://instagram.com/p/4Lt8mASaHL/ There's no word yet on why Maddox chose to dress in a way that was similar to CM Punk or why he did his own pipebomb style promo, but perhaps it was a way to get people talking about him again. WWE is smart enough to know that if a guy does something like that at a live event then it's going to be talked about by fans online. Maddox was the GM of Raw for most of 2013 and into early 2014. He was removed from that role in May 2014 and really hasn't done much since then aside from working some live events once in a while.
