Bret Hart: "The Vast Majority Of White Southern Wrestlers Tend To Be Racial"

Racist slurs were commonplace back in the day, The Hitman claims...

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart hopes Hulk Hogan's days in the WWE are over. The Hitman was speaking during a Q&A with Off The Record€™s Periscope account, where he was asked to comment on everything that has gone on with The Hulkster in the last few weeks. For those of you that don't know, an eight-year-old audio transcript of a racial tirade by Hogan, where he uses the 'N' word on more than one occasion, was made public via an unauthorised sex tape. WWE terminated its 30-year association with their former 'face' and wiped him from its Hall of Fame. Hulk then made an emotional apology on Good Morning America last week. And when asked if he thought Hogan should return to WWE, Hart certainly didn't pull any punches on the subject, he said: "Let's hope not. Let's really hope that he lives with himself in Tampa and stays there in his little world of idle worship of himself. "I'm not a big Hulk Hogan fan." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxQeScQE9TQ However, in a rather shocking turn of events, Bret did admit that he felt sorry for his former comrade, and revealed that racial slurs, the type that were heard during Hogan's leaked tirade, were commonplace in wrestling locker rooms during his career. "I kind of feel bad for him because I don't remember him necessarily being a racist," said Hart. "But I can say that through my experience that the vast majority, of course not all of them, but there's a vast majority of the white southern wrestlers tend to be a little bit racial all the time, and the 'N' word was frequently used by wrestlers in the dressing room when there was a black guy not around. "Being a Canadian I find that really difficult, I didn't see eye-to-eye with that kind of stuff. I've never felt like that and I've never been in that kind of mind set. "If you had a camera like that in most of the dressing rooms with a lot of the southern wrestlers from Florida, Tennessee, Mississippi, even Texas, you get a lot of that kind of slant on things and I'm kind of glad he got busted for that reason of times have changed and you have to answer for that stuff and he's answering for it. "He's probably glad Roddy Piper passed away because it took all the edge off that..." Very revealing stuff from Hart, who is always great value for money in interviews as he always says things exactly as they are. Although, that last line is a little cold, isn't it?
