Wrestling industry insiders have speculated on Brock Lesnar rejoining UFC when his WWE deal expires this coming April. Dave Meltzer joined Jim Ross' podcast and the pair talked about Lesnar's future, with Ross noting that he understood there'd been no serious talks between WWE and Brock over a new deal. That raises the question of a potential Lesnar comeback in the UFC. Meltzer believes that it wouldn't be in Lesnar's best interests to fight as a 38 year old in 2015, but the UFC is sure to offer leverage to any WWE negotiations. That's because UFC's pay per view numbers have been declining since Lesnar left the MMA group, something which his return to the sport could remedy. Brock was an attraction that was able to draw a million buys for a show, but he didn't quite have the MMA skill to compete with UFC's top heavyweights. In his final two fights with the company, he was easily beaten by current champion Cain Velasquez and the average Alistair Overeem. However, UFC President Dana White is a businessman, he knows that Brock will make money. On Lesnar's part, he's also motivated by money, as evidenced by his current $5 million a year WWE deal. White previously tried to bring Brock back in 2012, for what would've been a supershow main event against Fedor Emelianenko. That fell through after Fedor's father died, making the legendary fighter lose all interest in competing. Jim Ross notes that WWE will have to decide if they want to keep Brock and open discussions very soon. The planning around WrestleMania is done far in advance, so Brock's booking will really depend on if he's staying or going. You'd think that WWE would want to keep one of their few big names, but Brock is a costly investment to maintain. In a period of company cuts, perhaps WWE are currently getting what value out of him that they can, before mutually parting ways in 2015. He's the current WWE Champion and the most pushed wrestler of 2014, which will have others believing that WWE will re-sign him next year. Whatever happens, WWE or UFC, the Brock Lesnar brand isn't going to come cheap.
