Brock Lesnar's WWE Return Will Be At SummerSlam

Since Brock Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012, he always worked the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. That won't be the case this year. In the newest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Lesnar is expected to return to WWE at SummerSlam. While it's not known who Lesnar might face at SummerSlam, Meltzer speculates that it could be in the main event as the challenger to Daniel Bryan's WWE World Heavyweight Champion. For that to happen, Bryan would have to hold the WWE Title for the next four months, which isn't a guarantee since WWE has been known to change plans especially in the last few months. A matchup between Bryan and Lesnar would be fantastic to watch because Lesnar is arguably the best heel on the roster even though he's not a full time performer. Since Lesnar is signed in WWE through WrestleMania 31 in 2015, it makes sense that they would want to put him in a match with a top babyface like Bryan at some point. In 2012, Lesnar returned to WWE the night after WrestleMania 28 to set up an Extreme Rules match against John Cena, which was a great match that he lost. Last year, Lesnar faced Triple H for the third time in a steel cage match and Lesnar came out the victor to win the feud. Lesnar went on to defeat CM Punk at SummerSlam, Big Show at Royal Rumble and he famously defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 to end Undertaker's undefeated WrestleMania streak as well. A lot of fans that are upset that Undertaker's WrestleMania streak ended are mad in part because it was to a part-timer to Lesnar. If Lesnar was a full timer they most likely would have continued to book him strong and possibly put the WWE Title on him. However, due to his part time schedule that likely won't ever change, there's no way for WWE to immediately capitalize on Lesnar's win. Most likely, Lesnar will wrestle four matches between now and WrestleMania 31. While it's not known when those matches will be, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble seem likely as well as WrestleMania 31, which is currently rumored to be against The Rock or Cesaro if Rock chooses to not wrestle again. Since he's not wrestling at Extreme Rules this year, it will likely be another "Special Event" where he has his fourth match. Hopefully WWE does go through the Bryan/Lesnar matchup because it's never happened before and is definitely a main event worthy matchup. For now, Lesnar fans are going to wait until August to see the Beast Incarnate again.
