Brock Lesnar's WWE SummerSlam 2016 Opponent To Be Revealed On SmackDown
Will it be Orton? Cena? Someone else?
On tonight's episode of Raw, WWE announced that Brock Lesnar's opponent for SummerSlam will be revealed on this week's SmackDown. This will go down just days before his UFC 200 fight against Mark Hunt.
Right now, there is no clear opponent storyline-wise for who Lesnar will battle at the show of the summer, which leaves a lot of intriguing possibilities. There's a chance he could have a rematch with Dean Ambrose now that he has the world title. He never had his big fight with Bray Wyatt either. Management may just decide another round with John Cena sounds like fun. Or, if Brock comes back as a face, he has some unfinished business to settle with Seth Rollins.
However, something we have never seen before, which feels long overdue, is Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton. It could finally happen at SummerSlam this year, as Orton is scheduled to return sometime within the next month. Brock's manager Paul Heyman seems especially high on the idea as he told ESPN he would like to see the "modern day Brock Lesnar" take on the "modern day Randy Orton." Millions of fans would likely agree.
Out of all the available options, Orton may be the best one. Due to Brock's very limited schedule there won't be many episodes of TV to promote his match. Brock vs. Randy sells itself, and the two are due for a rematch as they haven't locked up in a ring since 2002, which was well before Orton became a star.
